How it all started...
Schnitzer was founded in 1968 by the dentist Dr Schnitzer, who made the wholefood philosophy accessible to large sections of the population through literature and products. Schnitzer has been offering long-life organic baked goods since 1996; initially exclusively wholefood. The first expansion took place in 2002: A separate gluten-free organic production facility was put into operation. The second expansion took place in 2014/2015. A new production facility was built and put into operation at the end of 2015. Since then, over 30 different, self-developed gluten-free recipes have been produced there on a total of 7,000 square metres - with IFS Food (Higher Level) certification.

Certificate
Schnitzer was IFS certified in spring 2016 and was even able to complete the certification process on a high level. IFS stands for International Featured Standard and refers to a series of "food, product and service standards".
DZG-LICENSED
The crossed-out ear of corn is the internationally recognised symbol for gluten-free food.
The gluten-free symbol is a guarantee of quality. All manufacturers who use it must comply with high production standards in order to guarantee the safety of the licensed product. In Germany, monitoring is carried out by the German Coeliac Society.
CERTIFIED BY LACON
To be allowed to use the organic label valid in the EU, the company and its products are subject to special controls. The requirement for the inspection, and therefore for the use of the seal, is compliance with set standards and the linking of special conditions. Compliance with the criteria is ensured through mandatory documentation and regular sampling and testing of goods. Compliance with the regulations for all organic products in the EU is monitored by the relevant organic inspection body; if an association seal is also used, the respective growers' association is responsible for monitoring and inspection. Schnitzer is certified by Lacon in accordance with EU organic guidelines.
The production of Schnitzer GmbH in Offenburg has been certified according to the ZNU Standard "Driving Sustainable Change" as of 2 August 2023. This means consistently and continuously describing and measuring all company activities from the perspective of sustainability and improving them in terms of sustainability. You can find more information in the Sustainability section.
CLIMATE-NEUTRAL SHIPPING
Sending parcels and letters produces greenhouse gases that can accelerate climate change and harm the environment. GOGREEN shipping supports internationally recognised climate protection projects to offset the emissions generated. With climate-neutral shipping, Schnitzer is emphasising its sustainable corporate philosophy and the company's attitude towards protecting and conserving the environment.
As a representative cross-section of the range, nine Schnitzer products have so far been certified as low FODMAP by the independent Monash University in Australia. You can find more information on this here.
