The Company’s History

Schnitzer was founded in 1968 by the dentist  Dr. Schnitzer, who made the wholesome food philosophy available for a large part of the  population through  products and literature. Schnitzer  already offered long-life organic bakery products in 1996, first only wholesome. In 2002 the first expansion took place:  a separate production of organic and gluten free products was put into operation. The second expansion was in 2014/2015: a new production facility was built and put into operation at the end of 2015, where about seventy  different, self developed recipes were produced on a total of  7000 sq. m.- with IFS certificated food (higher level).

Philosophy

Tradition creates trust

Schnitzer has been  a continually growing   middle class business since the late 60´s with a traditional philosophy. We produce in a modern bakery in the sunny south west of Germany.  We appreciate a high degree of craftsmanship. Therefore a lot of master bakers and journeyman work in our production. Our Company  has been dealing  with  healthy nutrition concerning  cereals for almost  half  a  century.

Schnitzer is not only a pioneer in the food sector, but also in the house hold grain mill branch.

The company structures and organises itself along  the values set by it self. The mission statement not only motivates our employees but rather gives orientation and structure. The self set values are meant to  clarify  for our customers what the company and the employees stand for, namely that we  generate the  best performance in all sectors every day.

Due to the long standing experience in this branch  we enjoy the trust of our customers, suppliers and business partners. With innovative developments we emphasise  this trust over and over again. We offer organic healthy food for customers who  are aware of   wholesome food and guarantee the highest degree of  organic quality.  The company has focused on customers with special demands. Our products are developed especially for  people  affected by food intolerance and are produced under high rules. The product line glutenfree includes numerous products  which are also free of lactose and mostly also free of soya , nuts, eggs and yeast. The production of our food is subject to strict requirements and regular checks, so our customers can trust  the promised quality.

We are permanently improving and developing products . Our new products are not only for health awareness people, but also for food lovers.

To make sure our customers can enjoy all Schnitzer products everywhere and all the time our products are available at numerous distribution partners of organic food trades and selected stores which provide organic food, but also easy to obtain through our online shop.

Certificates

We are known for quality

Glutenfree

The crossed through  ear  of corn  is the internationally  recognized symbol for glutenfree food.

This symbol is a quality guarantee. All producers which use this must comply with high production standards in order to ensure the safety of this licensed product. In Germany this is controlled by the german celiac disease company (DZG).

Before a license contract with the DZG can be completed a current gluten-analysis of the affected products is required to ensure they are gluten-free. For exporting producers there has been  an opportunity of  getting  a Europe-wide valid  license contract with the DZG since 2012.

All products of the Schnitzer glutenfree assortment are licensed by the DZG and marked with the crossed-out ear.

Organic label

To use the organic label in the EU, the company and its products are controlled in a special way. The compliance of legal standards and special official instructions is necessary to use the  organic label.

A documentation obligation plus regular extraction and examination of samples guarantees the observance of the criteria. The obligation of the regulations for all organic products is controlled by the responsible inspection body.  If an additional association label is appropriated the supervision is made by the responsible -association. Schnitzer is certified by lacon according to EU-organic regulations.

IFS Certifikation

In spring 2016 Schnitzer became IFS certified and could even complete this procedure with  a higher level. IFS stands for International featured standard and defines a number of food- product- and service standards. The IFS standard ensures that certified companies implement the arranged specifications and adjust the production appropriately.

Go Green - the climate neutral shipping

Shipping parcels causes greenhouse gas, which accelerate   climate change and can harm the environment . The GoGREEEN shipping supports internationally  recognized  climate protection programmes in compensation of the occurred emissions.  With the climate neutral shipping method Schnitzer underlines the sustainable philosophy and attitude of the company to protect  the environment.
